You’ll receive this issue of NewsFeed in the wake of this year’s Remembrance Day ceremony and there are two items below which relate to World War 1. First there’s the release of the Siegfried Sassoon collection from JISC and Oxford University timed to coincide with Armistice Day which will see the poet’s work freely available online for the first time as part of the Oxford University First World War poetry digital archive. In addition high technology is used to give life to the past when in another part of the poetry archive the Learning Technologies Group at Oxford have used the 3D virtual world Second Life to simulate areas of the Western Front from 1914-18.
In addition, we have news of a slick online repository, of a revamped JISC Legal website, of a space exploration timeline from NASA and reports on digital isolation (much exaggerated apparently), students and the mobile internet and sustainability in Scotland’s Colleges. Enough to keep you going then until our penultimate issue of the year due on the 24th of November.
