No Salesmen will call – a work around for nuisance calls to your iPhone
Is there someone calling your mobile phone that you’d rather not speak to? Many mobile phones have a simple way of blocking numbers so that those annoying calls can’t get through a second time! Sadly, this option is not available with my lovely new iPhone.
Having registered with Telephone Preferential Services (TPS) several weeks ago for my iPhone, I was somewhat surprised to see an 0800 number appear on my iPhone screen as a missed call the other day. A quick Google search using the full number showed the number was allegedly from Sky telesales. A little further research and I found that this number was also variously reported as a making repeated nuisance calls and nothing to do with Sky. Either way, having listed for TPS, I do not want to hear from any salesmen on my on mobile phone! So…. where is the “Block calls from this number” button on my iPhone? Apparently there isn’t a way yet to do this. I could put my phone on silent but then I’d miss calls that I do want to receive.
The best solution I could find was to actually SAVE this unwanted number (because, oh yes… they keep ringing!) and I have allocated it a ringtone that I will never use for my contacts. So, when my phone starts quacking, I know its yet another annoying call from this number. Better yet, I’ve now discovered that you can download a silent ringtone for free. I have labelled this caller in my phone as BLOCKED and have given it the silent treatment.
