“Somewhere over the rainbow…”
Well there’s been no shortage of precipitation since the last edition of NewsFeed dropped out of the ether. At the time of writing, the mopping up process continues after floods in the North of England, rivers are still rising and further rain is forecast.
But after the rain and after the flood comes the rainbow and at the end of the rainbow is hidden that legendary pot of gold. And indeed there is news of gold hidden away in this edition of NewsFeed, as JISC unveils its funding ‘roadmap’ for the coming year, giving advance notice of funding calls to be issued in the remainder of this academic session. That’s then swiftly followed by a raft of ‘invitations to tender’ (ITTs) inviting institutions to take part in research projects across the spectrum of FE and HE activity. Dig deep and maybe you’ll find that gold.
Elsewhere in this multifaceted edition we have new JISC resources, cloud computing is explained in around three minutes in Plain English, there’s a morsel of Pecha Kucha (tastier than it sounds), mobile learning and even a new strategy planning tool for the hard-pressed senior manager. All the colours of the rainbow in fact.
However, if we’ve missed any, or if there are shades of meaning that we should be covering and that our ever-sensitive radar has missed, then please let us know by using the comment facility. Are you using technology in a unique or original way that you think should be wider known in the sector? Again, let us know here at your Scottish JISC Regional Support Centres.
OK. Put the kettle on, find somewhere dry and out of the rain. Cup of coffee, chocolate hobnob, rainbow in the sky and Newsfeed. Does it get much better?
