Last few places available for this free half-day event aimed at hairdressing/health & beauty staff interested in exploring the possibilities offered by technology to enhance teaching and learning within their fields.
You’ll have the chance to hear from subject area specialists who will demonstrate readily-available tools & resources and describe the impact they have had on college students. There will also be the opportunity to join workshops, guided by the presenters, where you can try out the technology.
The programme includes:
- Slyvia Bond, previously a hairdressing tutor and ILT Champion at Tameside College for many years, describing how simple games and online resources have helped her to produce tangible learning gains with students.
- Carol Gibbons from Clydebank College, demonstrating how setting up a blog for her HND Beauty Therapy students has turned around their attitudes towards some of the more ‘challenging’ aspects of the Electro-cosmetic Therapy unit.
- Sara Brown from the RSC, highlighting the redeveloped JISC MIMAS Hairdressing Training website. Come along to hear about the changes and also receive training on how to put the freely available video and assessment resources to good use!
- Calum Thomson from Adam Smith Colleges explains how the CREATE project team have worked with subject specialists to produce a series of resources that can be shared with you.
- Lights, camera, action! With simple point-and-shoot video cameras and web cameras within the budget of most students, we’ll show you how others have been using the equipment to greatest effect in beauty therapy courses. There’s also the chance to win your own portable camera!
We’d also like you to quiz us on any aspect of e-Learning that you might be interested in and discover how the RSC can support your department!
